I Do My Best Thinking in the Shower

I Do My Best Thinking in the Shower

A Poem by EVERYTHINGyoucantelltoSTRANGERS
"

things that go through my head in the shower... self explanitory, really reauploading

"

Breath rustling trees

Drafts warming cheeks

Blushing petals

And broken bowls

Cracked porcelain

And dirt stuck underneath fingernails

Scrubbing empty dishes

But leaving pots and pans

Waiting for the lights to come back on

But turning them off again

Fading shadows with memorized faces

Every detail saved for rainy days

And empty rooms

With more cracked glass

And empty rings

Investing in caller ID

So all you get is voicemail

Some girl saying the first three digits

But longing for the other four

Rasps of melodies

Blending into a brown mess of things

Faces with no names

But plenty of memories

Laughing and carrying on

Third party

Third wheel

Doesn’t care anymore

Last hope

Let go

Do you know how it feels?

The Rush

The High

The Clarity

The ability to see

Without

Black dots

And frothy smiles

Arms wide open

With empty lies

Demure

And simple

A classic cut

A change of pace

To lessen the chances

To feel

To know

To care

To drop

The bomb

And fly away

Come back on some other day

Forgettable

Only memories

Possible futures

With more gritted teeth

Glassy eyes

And someone else’s smile

Replacing yours with

Taped over leather

And half felt glares

Falling ice

And purple stars

Low cut gowns

And argyle sweaters

Math equations

And eighteen yard lines

Impeccable aim

But impossible to find

Junk food chains

And cracked camera lenses

Torn up schedules

With today’s excuses

It all belongs to yesterday

Taking the duct tape off my eyes

And the folding paper off by back

(SAME TIME TOMORROW?)

Tear-stained lashes

Intense lack of mascara

Too much eyeliner

And reputations that follow

Rumor control

Start your own

Stay skinnier than them

And you’ve won the game

Three hour practices

Five days a week

Ability to do everything better than you

But still bat your eyes

Failed attempts

At looking subdued

Turning up the speakers

Drowning obligations

Rushes of water

With losses of conscious

LATHER

RINSE

REPEAT

wow. I felt this to truly capture the essence of high school/college society. The thoughts and actions of what most people feel they absolutely must do in order to be liked or popular. Very nice

v kl stream of random conciousness but still remains quite rhythmic - really like the title and the end "Drowning obligations

Rushes of water

With losses of conscious

LATHER

RINSE

REPEAT"

very well done
