Better Left Unsaid

Better Left Unsaid

A Poem by EVERYTHINGyoucantelltoSTRANGERS
"

some things from ages ago... reuploading

"

Remember secrets?

That used to be frivolous

Look where they got us

Oh my sweet liar

Faster than you could have blinked

Wishing for desire

Or perhaps because,

Some things; better left unsaid

What we say tonight

Echoes through what was

Left of my eternity

To be replaced with

Another lapse of feeling;

One more turmoil;

Instability

Of what it is I am now

Hates who I used to

Think I was when I was

With you; stupid me

Look where it has gotten me

Thus far, it’s nowhere

(Which constitutes as backwards)

In this fraction

Of so-called reality

Can anyone hear?

This storm is gaining power

Of course it’s nothing

Except a taciturn me

Another change of events

In this once known life

That I used to call my own

But everything is

Own to you, so unknowing,

So wrapped up in it

All, so place yourself as the

Winner, because you

Outran the rest of the race

You still became my

Home-Schooled institution, you

Are my asylum

overall, beautiful and powerfully written.

a few suggestions:

these two lines ("Some things; better left unsaid

What we say tonight") could be rearranged...they are a little awkward gramatically

"To be replaced with" I don't think this sentence needs the phrase "to be".

In this once known life

That I used to call my own" You don't need "once known"-that becomes redundant once you say "used to"-"used to" makes the point that it is something that does not exist anymore; rhythmically "once known" takes away from the character of the poem and from the rhythm of the poem.

I love the way you end it, "asylum" is such a strong metaphor..powerful way to end it.
