About MeA native of Colorado, I live in Denver with my wife, Kathy. Between us, we are blessed with six adult children who also reside in the metro Denver area. I’ve spent a fair share of my life outside the lines, started riding Harleys, roaring across the nights with fellow madmen and singing in rock & roll bands before I was of legal age to drink in bars (that didn’t slow me down much though). Family has always been my number one priority, my children the single dynamic that dragged me back when I was dangling over the edge. Life with them gave me direction and heart to write my shortest novel, ~be there~.
I began to write as soon as I could push a pencil across the lines in a Big Chief tablet. I wrote my siblings’ names over and over, as if this act might save us from the poverty, violence, and anguish of our lives. It didn’t work but provided me with a cathartic outlet. I always sang too. Singin’ and writin’ fed the malnourished monster inside, held it at bay and kept it from devouring me. I’m living my sixty-third year. Kathy and I have been married four years. Life is good with her. Blessed with seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, I watch the bottoms of their little feet running and listen to the music of their voices howling when I become monster papa and give them chase. I create music with my sons and enjoy the rare honor of appearing with them on stage to perform together and share our music with others. I have a couple of dozen novels to wrap up, poetry collections and snippets, ten thousand whispers and a billion words. My sons are coming over with their guitars to record the hundreds of songs with me that never got into the studio. Life is usually good and, if you slow down a l’il bit and pay attention, it just gets better. My epitaph: ~I ain’t done yet~ I write novels, stories, poetry, songs, nonsense & lies. It has been suggested truth sneaks in when I ain't lookin'. I ain’t coppin’ to nothin’, older ‘n most dead folks, got scant to lose. |
