About Me
I was born and raised in North West Georgia in 1980. I was in many choral ensembles and began taking professional piano lessons at the age of 10. During middle school years, I attended many choral festivals, acheiving superior ratings. With my high school chorus group, I performed in a youth chorale at Carnegie Hall in NY, also acheiving Allstate choral status in 1996 and 97. I relocated to Greenville, Illinois in 1999 where I attended college and received a degree in Contemporary Music. I participated in numerous ensembles, including Chorale, Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Studio Recording Ensemble, and Singer-songwriter lab bands. Studying music business, traditional and contemporary theories, analyzing song lyrics, and also admiring the writings of peers, I decided to write poetry, hoping that it would advance my song lyrics and improve my songwriting style. In ways it has, but it is also a way that I've found helps me to express my feelings and also deal with them. I value the majority of things that I write, and I am here to share those writings with you. I hope you enjoy them. Thanks. - JH
