About Me
I started writing at a very young age. I needed a way to express the things I saw, or imaged, or sometimes imagined I saw, and express them to the world. I wrote my first 100 plus page fiction story by the age of 9, it was nothing spectacular. It was somewhat of a "Friday the 13th." type story I named Blood in the Ozarks. I incorporated all my friends into the story as characters, and spent the week writing 20 or so pages a day, and handing out the new sections of the story to my friends, who were all very eager to see how they would end up dying...That is when I realized the effectiveness of making people a "part of the story", when they are involved emotionally or literally, they always seem to have more of an interest. I continued to write throughout the years, some years more than other. When I started performing music, I immediately fell in love with the difficult task of writing lyrics for songs, so that remained my focus for some time. It was during the same time period that I began writing poetry. Early on I decided that I would never be a victim of writers block, but instead just switch my artistic medium until I was able to write again. This brought me to painting, photography, and other forms of art. I currently work as a professional photographer, and will probably write until the day I die. I am a huge fan of Hunter S. Thompson, Charles Bukowski, J.D. Salinger, Celine, Albert Camus and William S. Burroughs...just to name a few. I tend to like writers who are not afraid to really delve into the darker corners of the human soul, and the world, to give those who unwilling a taste of reality. I appreciate you taking the time to check out my profile, and my work. I appreciate any and all feedback, and look forward to reading the work of a lot of great writers on this site.
Cheers,
Steve Anaya
