cool. writing freely is fine but sometimes its hard to maintain a sense of direction, a plot, a point. I've tried writing both ways and now I actually combine the two. I start like this: create a BASIC guideline...a general idea of where you want the story to go, points you want to make, feelings you want to provoke....
then you write freely.
use the guideline when you feel you've strayed from your plot.
and remember i am not criticizing, I'm offering ideas.
