Sophie Konstantine

I was born in the republic of Georgia, moved to the UK when the Soviet Union collapsed. I relocated to CA 11 years ago. I grew up in a family of writers, artists, actors and thugs, which has given me colorful experiences. My personal life events have inspired me to write. I started writing as soon as I learned how to write. I used to write primarily in Russian and Georgian, but in the last 15 years I have been writing mostly in English. The fact that English is my third language has affected my level of confidence in putting my writing out there. So I am excited to share my writing publicly for the first time. I look forward to growing and learning from the writers community and exchanging ideas and experiences.

I was mostly influenced by classic Russian, French and British literature as well as by some South and North American writers. I love magical realism as a genre and some of my writing blurs the lines between reality and fantasy. Some of my favorite writers are Mikhail Bulgakov, Haruki Murakami, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov, Jorge Luis Borges and Charles Bukowski . While I draw from many influences, I am trying to develop my own unique style.
