About Me

I can remember being seven years old and writing a story about a young girl in a red cape going into the woods and being attacked by a wolf and thinking I was the most creative person alive.
I have always loved reading, its an extraordinary escape from the world and being a high school senior right now, I have been taking frequent escapes. I think I began writing in order to control what happened during my 'escapes' because I become truly engrossed into whatever I am reading. I've been known to snap at people after reading a dramatic story.
When I write I am able to pour these emotions into the keyboard or pen, leaving me a much more enjoyable person to be around... or not, depending on what I am writing.
The melodramatic events of my life have affected what I write, whether it be my parents divorce or my zit on my forehead conveniently erupting on opening night of one my schools plays or musicals. Come on, I'm seventeen years old, a zit *is* cause for drama!
I am currently on my schools newspaper staff, which has been a new and enjoyable experience. Writing about something that has actually happened has been bizarre.

Let me know what you and/or your advisor thinks of it. It's pretty boring, I know, but we haven't had it for very long.

And we used to do similar things with smaller one-acts all student directed, but the new advisor we got my freshman year said it was "a waste of time when we could work harder on the musical." I still don't understand, but what are you gonna do?

It seems our clubs aren't as active as your school's classes...=).

The drama club only does two shows a year, a student (senior)-directed play in the fall (this is usually a shorter two-act play to give seniors directing experience) and a full-length musical in the spring (directed by the faculty advisor). This year we did "You Can't Take It with You" in the fall and are working on "Little Shop of Horrors" for the spring.

The paper, called EMBLEM, produces anywhere from six to eight issues a year, roughly one every month and a half. But all the papers are themed - we have "Welcome Back" "Halloween" "New Years!" "Valentine's Day" "Spring Fever" and the year-closing "Senior Issue" which includes the Class Will and such senior things. If you're interested, you can actually check out our website at www.shsemblem.org (you can look at past issues ans such).

They're both a lot of work, but I really do enjoy doing it.

It's a bit overwhelming, but thankfully I'm done with the whole college thing - I've been accepted to my top two schools.

At my school right now, though, the theatre and newspaper aren't classes, but clubs after school. I don't know if it's good or bad, but we still do everything we can.

Usually my newspaper ends up on the backburner...unfortunately. But that's just because the show's are a month and a half of crazy and then it's over and the schoolwork just has to get done. The advisor understands, though, since I give him 100% the rest of the time.

I was looking through the "day job" forum and saw that we have a lot in common, so I though I'd introduce myself. I'm a senior, editor of my school's paper and literary magazine, and am stage managing the school production of "Little Shop of Horrors."

Do you find it difficult to balance everything with the school-work like I do?

Thank you so much Samantha for the review, I guess it's just a memory and I had to express it; a person lost and I feel bad because of the incidents that happened. :)~
