About Me
I'm an unpublished author of a saga-length novel based on Norse mythology and set in real time. My favorite authors are: Mark Twain; Tom Robbins; William Kotswinkle; Ambrose Bierce; William Shakespeare; Sara Teasedale; Karl Hiaasen; Kurt Vonnegut; H G Wells; Poe; H P Lovecraft--this list is a work in progress. I live in a rural county in Central California famous for authors who either passed through or made their bones there.
I learned story-telling from my grandmother and her sister, who used to have us read Poe aloud and sit in a 'story circle', where one person would begin a tale and tag the next person to continue.
The first 'grown-up' novels I ever read were Dickens; David Copperfield and Oliver Twist when I was in middle school. From then on, I picked books by their weight. When given a choice in freshman English between Beowulf and Lord of the Rings, I picked the latter.
