Flying Mermaid

I live in the mountainous desert, in a magical castle, on the Mexican border. There, in paradise, I never leave my wonderland, stay home and write stories. The castle has its own lure, and people come to me. Every month or so I have some sort of event there, so I don't become incapable of publicly flapping my lips. Or I did, until I came to visit my mother in New Jersey for a week, during which time her cancer returned and I never went home. That was a year and a half ago.

During that time I made wonderful cyber friends on MySpace, and they have seen me through it all. I keep writing it, and they keep reading it, holding my hand the whole time. I call them my SpaceBabies.

My mother died in August and I'm in the process of emptying out the house she was in for 53 years. Soon I'll be leaving New Jersey and heading back to the desert. I'm going to drive there, slowly, meeting many of my SpaceBabies for the first time along the way. Stay tuned.
