I'm 38 years young. Born in Scotland, grew up in London. Still live in London, with a few knitted plants and 2 feather boas (one hot pink, one purple). I do have other things too, like plates and a bed, etc.
I work from home just now - writing, selling on Amazon and maintaining 2 websites.
I write poetry. I started trying to get published about 4 years ago. Since then I've had about 50 published, some in Forward Press anthologies, some online. One came 4th in the Forward Press 'Top 100 Poets of 2005.' Some are published online
here at the PostPoems site, more
here at the we-love-poems site, more stuff on poemhunter.com
here and most recently, two
here at nocureforthat.com.
I self-published a book of poetry at lulu.com last year -
'I Am The Blast From Your Past & Other Poems'.
The published ones that mean more to me than any other publication could are
these three on The National Association for People Abused in Childhood website.
I've just started entering big poetry competitions so that I can move forward a bit. Entered three last year - 'The Pink Room' got shortlisted for the
Franklin-Christoph competition - final results will be announced on 15th March!
'From An Alley, A Flame' & 'I Leave You With A Breath Of Ivy' both got onto the shortlist for the
Tom Howard/John Reid competition - they made it through several cuts on to the final shortlist!
I recently met
Bazza - through MySpace & am HUGELY excited because he's just finished making a CD of songs based on 15 of my poems!
I sell books & other stuff on Amazon & eBay.
One of my other personalities, opheliablue, has had a
LiveJournal for over six years now - so if you have one too, feel free to add me/her so that we can bore you in two different places. If you're really unlucky, we might even add you back.
Check out my mate
Wes McGhee's website! Wes's CDs are available at his website, including his most recent one, the highly acclaimed 'Blue Blue Night.'
New! Check out Wes's
MySpace page - created & maintained by yours truly.
I'm not a very social person, apart from online. I'm Emily Dickinson with a laptop! If I could go back in time, I would give her a laptop!
Main interest: Sylvia Plath. Some might call it my obsession - *I* call it my area of interest and research. I regularly posted on the
Sylvia Plath Forum, which has sadly stopped running now due to the tragic, early death of Elaine Connell, who started it ten years ago. I was asked to speak about Sylvia Plath at a Plath/Hughes evening in Yorkshire this year - totally unexpected! Couldn't go, though.
Other favourite poets: T.S. Eliot, Sharon Olds, Anne Sexton, Emily Dickinson, Benjamin Zephaniah and Jeffrey McDaniel.
