About Me
If my words make you smile, think, remember, or feel something that you thought was forgotten ... or that you only thought you felt that way and no one else did ... then they did exactly what I wanted them to do.
Most times, the poems come from my life. Some of them are born from a simple phrase either I used in a conversation, or a single word, or I'm reacting to something that I've seen or felt. I usually don't know where the poem is going to go, or how it's going to grow as I write. I just let the words start flowing. Thank goodness they still do. I really enjoy writing them.
If they seem to be close to the realities in your life, then I know they are close to where I want them to be. I want the reader to take them as their own words. I want the reader to say, "this is me in the poem."
To be honest, I don't know how well I'll be with making "reviews" here at the cafe. I don't often read poetry written by others. And if I do, I usually won't write for several days.
I know there are some brillant and talented writers here at the cafe. And while I may admire their work, I don't want it to influence mine.
I've done this for a very long time now, and it works for me.
