About Me

I am looking to improve my writing. Will give honest, blunt, opinionated reviews of others' work and openly welcome reviews of the same kind.

Please note: I don't mean to be rude - I am working on subtlety and grace (I need a lot of the latter.) Just realize that if I write a review on your work and it comes off wrong - that was not my intention. I wrote something because your piece captured my attention and I found your work intriguing and honestly really good.

All in all - writing is too important, in my opinion, to beat around the bush with too many pleasantries and I don't know of anything writers need more than honest criticism for improvement and encouragement/inspiration to keep going.

So that's what I'm here for... and I hope to find others who are here for that too.

Okay, first off, thank you for your review of my poem Filing Cabinet. I VERY rarely get a quality or helpful review on any of my poems, which means I don't get much help with my poetry, and they get almost nowehere past that first attempt at getting my idea across. Your review made me want to immediately go in and work on the problems you pointed out. Which I did, because I knew I was dissatisfied with the poem in the first place, but I didn't know how to fix it, or if it even could be fixed. I'm still unsure if I really succeeded in keeping it as...restrained as you talked about, or if I still gave away the "lesson" too early, but I gave it a try, at least. So thanks for helping me out.

And there is the beauty of Haiku's. A simple word juggle turns the meaning. I intended the last line to play on the observer/writer hence a suspended mind. And your version puts the observer in the birds mind...like both! Thanks much. : )
