I am an aspiring writer and student pursuing my B.A. in English.

I love magical realism (especially Latin American Lit), fantasy, and European folklore and mythology and much of my writing reflects this. While I like to read non-fiction and dystopian novels, my writing is most passionate when it includes some fantastical element. Oh, and I am a total nerd for classic fairy tales and I collect the oldest and most interesting books on these subjects. My favorite of this collection is an illustrated copy of "Thumbelina" in Latvian (I can't read the language but the art work is gorgeous).

I am also a sucker for romance novels, and write them under my pen name, Aisling Rian (writing sex scenes make me squirm, so it helps to have an alter-ego).

All in all, I write because it is what I love most in the world. I have always been a voracious reader but spending my day writing stories of my own is the most fulfilling task I have ever set myself to. Not only do I write for myself, but I write because I love sharing my stories with others, especially those who also love to read and/or write. I hope to one day provide for someone the same feelings my favorite authors have given to me.
