About
The Other Herald is a quirky creative arts/literary news, offering to connect/ support/ grow/ showcase writers of Western NY and beyond. We like unique and thought provoking writing and art.
Especially it is the intention of TOH to reach those who may not already feel included in the writing community as a whole, such as those who are subject to the isolation of small-town living, intense self- judgment, confined to nursing homes, young adults often ignored by publishers. However, we do not give special treatment to any; if the writing is good, the writing is good, and if it is not, then it is not.
Contributors, readers and subscribers are from all over the US, as we all as other countries. We're little, but we have a big heart!!! Most issues end up with a loose theme, however, no need to limit submissions to a specific theme; we accept general submissions year round.
GENRES
Currently accepting submissions of flash fiction, poetry, prose, writing exercises, comics or articles on a topic of interest to writers, black and white or greyscale artwork. Please keep all submissions reasonably "clean"... there's a tasteful way to get the reader to where you want them to be!
Payment is in copy(s) of the issue your work appears in; number of copies varies, as issue format varies. (Approx. once a year, we have a surprise larger 16-page booklet-style issue nicknamed "the next big thing". We cannot give five copies of this issue, but we do give five of the smaller sized issues.)
