About Me

Lori Shwydky is currently a third-year student at Vancouver Island University, majoring in Creative Writing, and has also completed various writing for children & young adult courses at the University of British Columbia. Publishing credits include a short story, "Cherry Pie" in the 1998 Arsenal Pulp Press Anthology, Hot & Bothered: Short Short Fiction of Lesbian Desire, edited by Karen X. Tulchinsky, and a poem, "The Statement", published in Critical Perspectives on Accounting, volume 8, issue 5, October 1997. She has given public readings of her work, "Cherry Pie" at the launch of Hot & Bothered.

Lori is an avid outdoor enthusiast and also enjoys travelling the world seeking new and thrilling adventures, like Mexico, Cuba, The Cook Islands, Beijing, and Thailand where she volunteered at an Elephant Refuge. The next planned adventure is hiking to base camp of Nepal's Annapurna in the Himalayas. At home in B.C., Lori enjoys kayaking, dragon boating and hiking favourite trails like the Juan de Fuca, Cathedral Lakes, and the West Coast Trail. Quieter pursuits include reading and writing (especially young adult fiction), and music (she plays electric guitar and imagines - erroneously - that she is "Slash").
Lori lives with her wife and two dogs in Nanoose Bay, B.C., Canada.
