Unravelling Yarns

I'm Laura. I've been a hobbyist writer for over twenty years, consummating my love of words with a Uni degree in Creative Writing, something which sadly, proved to be about as useful as a second appendix.

Two years ago, I left home to travel in Europe, and I am living and working as an English teacher in Saxon-Anhalt, Germany, in the former border-territory of the Harz mountains.

I enjoy writing short stories, true or otherwise, and am currently sourcing inspiration from the scribbles on bits of wine-stained napkins, crunched up bus tickets and pocket notebooks in the bottom of my backpack.

I don't have a favourite author or genre. I'm currently celebrating Laurie Lee, Allen Ginsberg and Vladimir Namokov, but can also be found buried deep in the Wordpress Freshly Pressed feed, eating Vegemite straight out of the jar with a teaspoon.
