About Me

I was born in Los Angeles in 1960 and grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I received a BS in Psychology in 1982 and a JD in 1985 from the University of Florida. I am a 4th-generation attorney and also a literary writer and editor. I live in Gainesville, Florida, with my husband and children.

My poetry and short fiction has appeared or will soon appear in 42Opus, The Absinthe Literary Review, The Adirondack Review, The Blue Fifth Review, Cenotaph, The Charlotte Poetry Review, CrossConnect, Earth’s Daughters, Eclectica, Exquisite Corpse, The Hold, Images InScript, New Laurel Review, The New York Quarterly, The Panhandler, The Paumanok Review, Poetry.St Corner, Poetry Super Highway, Red River Review, Snake Nation Review, Snakeskin, Stark Raving Sanity, Stirring: A Literary Collection and Xavier Review. I received an honorable mention in the North Carolina Writers’ Network Thomas Wolfe Fiction Contest, judged by Barbara Kingsolver, and an honorable mention in the 2001 Poetry Super Highway Awards for the category of “Favorite Featured Poet.”

I am also listed in the Directory at Poets & Writers (www.pw.org): founded in 1970, it is the nation’s largest nonprofit literary organization serving poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. P&W’s Directory lists names, addresses, publication credits, and upcoming events for 9,585 authors.

I have also accepted the opportunity to organize and manage the Hogtown Poetry Festival, a brand-new, annual Florida poetry event. On Friday, June 13, 2014, beginning at 7 p.m., and ending on Sunday, June 15th at 12 noon, event location(s) to be announced, I am hereby calling all Florida poets to submit their most authentic work to the first annual Hogtown Poetry Festival, a weekend-long event, filled with readings & workshops & a poetry contest featuring a cash prize of $1,000, sponsored by an anonymous beneficiary of the Gatorade Trust established by Dr. Robert Cade, inventor of Gatorade and lover of poetry. Special events for teen poets! Please go to URL: hogtownpoetryfestival.com for further updates, as they become available.
