About Me

My name is Kyle and I am twenty-three years old living in the small town of Ashland, New Hampshire. As a child I was always partial to literature, that is, in the art of using words to express feeling and emotion. My mother was and still is an avid reader, although I never quite picked up the same love for books. I spent my time mostly in front of the TV watching shows and movies but I think we share the same appreciation for a well told story.
I come from a Portuguese family and my mother was raised on the island of "Fayal" in the Azores, off the coast of Portugal. She was raised in a group home for girls by nuns and there was no television. Books were indeed a luxury and she absolutely adored them.
Since leaving school as the years went by, I noticed that I cared less and less for television and movies and quite recently I have begun to enjoy literature much more. It feels as if the thoughts coinciding with my feelings can find a common ground in the voices of different writers, some classical and come contemporary.

Even though I did not quite care much for reading, I had always displayed a unique talent for writing as I had discovered throughout the varries assignments given to me over the years. I enjoyed poetry the most as a form of expressive writing because it allowed for the most creativity in the shortest ammount of words. I could take feelings and thoughts, some of which I did not know what to make of, and put them into verse with artistic enthusiasm. I enjoyed the sense of instant gratifcation that came with writing poetry.

While I may not lack as much in imagination as others, It was always obvious to me that my greatest challenge when it came to writing was that of writing a story. As I recently began reading more, I noted the style and choice of words that authors used while I was reading and thought to myself why I enjoyed or did not enjoy them. It is the most common rule of writing that one hears time and time again. If you want to write well, you must read. Even in writing that I did not care for at all, I also took note of why I did not enjoy what I was reading.

I welcome all your comments, messages, praises and criticisms.
