Katherine Cabrera

Hello! My name is Katherine Cabrera and I am a full time foreign language teacher in the Bronx. I am a New Yorker from the Bronx and recently moved to the beautiful borough of Brooklyn. My parents are immigrants from the Dominican Republic and it plays a large role in my passion for working towards my dreams. I am lover of poetry and I have been writing since the 4th grade. I first began writing short stories then songs and for jobs in high school, I worked for different newspaper companies; Such as Amsterdam News, Latin Week NY etc. Last year I published my first poetry book;Recycling Words. I recently graduated graduate school and was attending school for the past three and half years- while teaching. Therefore, I have not been able to expose my book as desired. My goal now is to work on marketing my book and interacting/learning from different writers. I have also never participated in spoken word or a poetry reading! Therefore, I want to meet those who have and expose myself in that creative way.
