Heather is a Portland, Oregon based fiction writer whose first collection of short stories will be published in Summer, 2008. She writes experimental prose, memoir and "new narrative." She is a contributor and performer in several Portland literary/arts gatherings. Other interests include philosophy of language (particularly Wittgenstein), cultural and art criticism, writing in groups, teaching writing to underserved populations and new journalism social history writing (particularly the history of medicine). She received her B.A. in Philosophy from Kalamazoo College in 2002 and has been blundering around acquiring memoir fodder since then. She lives within a radius of approximately ten blocks and is usually taking notes or overplaying Velvet Underground songs for hours at a time.
