About Me

Don't click here!
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
--Dr. Seuss
"I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day."
--E. B. White
"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first."
--Mark Twain

Hey!
The name's Carly, and I like to write and read.
Brown hair with (recently) copper highlights.
Blue eyes.
5' 4"
I live in Philadelphia, but I move a lot. My parents, you know.
I love the rain.
My favorite season's autumn, which I think is a pretty name, too.
I write short stories and poetry, but mostly poetry on here because short stories take me ages, and I often quit them, sadly enough.
I doodle.
My favorite number's 2.
My favorite bands are Bright Eyes, Muse, the Arctic Monkeys, Spoon, Cage the Elephant, and Lady Gaga.
I like Ella Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby.
My favorite movie is Mozart and the Whale.
My favorite authors are Walter Moers, J. K. Rowling, Betty Smith, Phillip Roth, Maya Angelou, Hans Fallada, Ray Bradbury, and a ton more.
I like cupcakes.
I enjoy companionable silence.
I absolutely love the TV show Supernatural, but I've been watching it on DVD and am therefore not caught up with what's airing currently, so don't be a spoiler!
My rhyming poems absolutely depend on RhymeZone.com. Without it, I would have NO rhyming poems.
I'm a Phillies fan.
I love the original Star Trek series.
I like pickles, popcorn, plays, poker, Pringles, and pages.
That's about it. If I think of anything else, I'll add it. Message me?

Openness
It can be said that the divine itself is openness. In its wonderful ability to be open, we can learn from the flowers, which always incarnate this principle for us. A flower simply opens to the light and warmth of the sun and receives the moisture from the earth and the rain.

Being
Individuals who are mystically awake also have the ability to just be. Indeed, they are vitally conscious of the importance of this capacity for simply being. Contemplative spirituality is a call to being: to just be who we are in the deepest sense of our nature, our contemplative, mystical being. We all have this dimension of being by virtue of our humanity; everything else we do only adds to what we already are. In this, the flower is again our teacher. The flower doesn't do anything. The flower doesn't read books, answer letters, give speeches, or attend school. It just is.

Joy
Joy is an unmistakable sign of the deeper life. It comes as an abiding gift when an individual has reached union with the divine. This inner bliss that saturates our being, life, thoughts, actions, and relationships is an expression of spiritual plenitude, the fullness of the inner journey.
