I wouldn't say it's missing something (outside of the single word I pointed out), but it would probably work better in a series of poems or storyline so we can really identify with those little moments. You might want to get a few other people to read it - maybe I'm just so awesome, I drew the line between what you were saying and the beautiful moments they symbolized when everyone else might not. ;)
