Writing |
About MeI was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA in 1976. After graduating from Germantown Academy highschool in 1994, I attened the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Graduated in 1998 with an English degree and moved out to Seattle, joining the legions of dotcommers who made and, sigh, lost fortunes. Microsoft, HotJobs.com and Vcapital were just a few of the stops along the way into pharmaceutical research and then finance. After numerous geographical and professional changes, I currently reside in Chicago and write global proposals for a family of management consulting firms.
Since I no longer have the space required to oil paint, I have returned to writing as my primary creative outlet and seem to have done so with a vengance (both figurative and literal). I feel like my new work, particularly the short stories, have a depth that I was incapable of creating before. Almost all of my fiction is about people, either in relation to ourselvers or others and I've been letting these stories skirt the edges and playfully wander into terra incognita - darklands at the edge of my emotional maps where shadows prowl just beyond the safety of the campfires. I like being unsettled as both a reader and a writer and I am happy with the direction but still not fully satisfied by the results. Ever onward and always almost becoming. I invite you to explore and critique any and all of my creative output. Thanks for reading my mind. Josh |
