Discussion: How to Establish an Identity for Yourself in a Public Community1 Year AgoDear fellow writers,
I'm bringing you today the discussion of Public Self-identification, in other words, a discussion on how we can put ourselves out there with the brightest of impressions, and how we can handle critique in the most professional and peaceful way possible, to both improve and adapt to your environment, that is the community we are a part of. The pieces of writing we put out reflect a certain degree of ourselves, they are the defining features of a writer besides the writer themselves. So by establishing a clear and concise theme, topic, and subject matter over your work can help readers know what writing is to be expected from you. That could establish an idea of who others should perceive you as, for example, a writer who writes tragedies or a poet who favours older forms of romanticism. Other things such as how one's public image is perceived, how to handle public discussions, social interactions, social pressure, studious experience, and unpleasant interactions as a whole to build yourself a public character, would be put to discussion here on the replies on this thread. So feel free to share your opinions and advice on the matter. Recently, everyone who is active may have seen or received some unpleasant words from random nobodies comparing your writing to slurs and etc, sometimes with suspecting bot upvotes or from a band of unpleasant junkers who frame themselves as educated rats. They are amongst the various challenges I assume that veteran writers on this site had to endure previously - I'd rather received a harsh but educated comment from JayG, at least he has credibility and not a hypocrite like they are. So I advise you to pay those junkers little mind and not interact with them nor get affected by them too much. Especially for the writers who had just recently been on this site not for long, it can damage your self-esteem and influence your writing and mood to spiral downwards. I advise you once more, that if you have troubles weighing down on your mind or an unpleasant experience you wish to speak about, this group is a fairly safe space to do so as I highly trust author Kane Hagwood to handle management matters professionally as well as our active members to be welcoming and friendly. Again, talking things out with others whom you can depend on is often the best way to de-escalate a situation or circumstances. And do not let anyone else try to take away your rights to write and pen your mind. Tragically, it is something that needs to be said over and over again, a necessity. Signed, yours truly, Leon. |

Re: Discussion: How to Establish an Identity for Yourself in a Public Community1 Year AgoI agree with this completely, those that come on this sight to give people crud are not the people you should be thinking about 24/7.If someone like this finds themselves waddling throughout your page leaving bruises on your work then It shouldn't bother you because those bruises heal, and what truly matters is the people that will rise you up to the highest extent of what your future holds.
People these days will always find someway to announce your failure even if you are doing the best you can in life, but take a step further then they ever could and leave them in the footsteps you once took. |
