Write Away! 2008 Competition

Write Away! 2008 is a competition run by Meldrum Writers' Group. All secondary school children in Aberdeenshire are invited to complete the story beginning "Chris wasn't used to not knowing anyone" and judging will be done in three categories: S1&S2, S3&S4 and S5&S6.
We have managed to secure sponsorship from Stewart Milne the Builder, Waterstones Aberdeen (Union Bridge) and Better Read Books of Ellon.
We have three celebrity authors acting as judges, Deborah Leslie, Cathy Cassidy and Stuart McBride, and our first minister, Alex Salmond MSP has agreed to be our judge of best in competition and will, scheduling allowing, be presenting our prizes.
The competition will launch at the beginning of September 2008 with a deadline of October and winners announced in January 2009. More details will be posted as and when they become available. Please support this initiative to encourage young writers in the north east of Scotland.
If you are a children's writer and have any books of your own you would like to donate as prizes, please get in touch.
We are hoping to produce a printed anthology of the winning and commended entries and are currently seeking sponsorship for this too.
