pretty hurts

you see victoria secret stars and commercials with gorgeous women, so you start dreaming of becoming a model at 7 making it your priority, a mission. "why couldn't i be pretty tall and skinny like the girls on t.v, i know that they worked hard to be that way beauty doesn't just come free." they're drop dead gorgeous slim without a blemish on their face, it's like they were born perfect born into the correct race. you have to be white you have to have a thigh gap and straight teeth, they won't accept you if you don't have the right qualities they'll put you beneath (everyone else). you have to have long flowing hair you have to be 5'7 or 5'8, they don't want you on billboards or magazines if you don't have those traits. abs and a small waist fitting into jean sizes one and two, before you know it you're suffering from anorexia to be like them and you didn't even have a clue. tiny portions of food exhaustion in your eyes, the camera is torturing you filling you up with tormenting lies. you "inspire" numerous young girls you have all of the riches, but at what cost just more surgery and stitches. "you need to stand up straight you need to eat less, stop sleeping and work out more you're starting to look like a mess." without make-up you're a whole new woman without the flashy clothes you're free, but that's when they judge you they don't want you to be filled with glee. you're trapped in a contract stuck in a career full of lies and pain, and you can't do anything about it not even cry out in vain. but remember when you were younger and you wanted to be like the girls on t.v., you thought that they were so perfect that they were problem free. but now you experienced the pain you took part in their show, and you didn't think you would go through this you would have never known. you were just a child a young girl with enormous dreams, and you ended up in a devil run buisness something that wasn't what it seemed. and you learned that it's not all that you wanted even though it had a few perks, but in the end you know what it's like to go through pain, after all, pretty hurts. -alexismari w.
