Write = Get Reviews Forum Gender-reversed fairy tale
Gender-reversed fairy tale10 Years AgoHi, I'm new to this site and am hoping to get some reviews for my writing. I have had no such luck so far, so I'm hoping that some people will be able to help me out. In exchange for your feedback, I will gladly provide feedback on your writing. I'm just looking for a supportive community of writers who will be able to provide me with a second opinion. Thanks.
Here's an excerpt (taken from chapter one) from my gender-reversed fairy tale (it's going to be a Middle Grade Children's novel) called 'Bartlebee the Bard': "Despite wanting to appear fearless like his father, Bartlebee's throat started to close up with dread. Panic made him sprint toward the stairs—or he would've sprinted if his hair hadn't gotten in the way. He fell forwards onto the wine-covered dirt floor. He heard the wooden door overhead bang shut and the slide of the iron bolt which meant that he'd been locked in. He was a prisoner in a pig pen." You can read the rest (I've written chapters one and two, in addition to a brief introductory Author's Note) here: I should also note that my story is meant to be a parody, and I use the pseudonym Grimmelda Gibbons. If you've ever read Daniel Handler/Lemony Snicket's 'A Series of Unfortunate Events,' I was influenced by his style in that I created a pseudo-author who also occasionally interjects commentary into the story. |
