Looking for advice!

Hi guys! Basically, I'm just looking for advice. I've been writing my book now for about three months and thus far I have about four chapters, the first of which is on this website.

My question is that my ideas are becoming a bit complicated, I wonder how do other people push through writers block? This project has been going on for so long now that the ideas I had at the start have sort of become lost at this stage.

Any ideas would be great!

Hey, Con!
It can be tricky sometimes to follow a book through to the end, as often times the storycan diverge quickly in your mind. As a prolific, border-line compulsive writer, I often have had this problem, and it has become especially problematic with commissioned work because I cannot dramatically alter it or just let it die. The trick for me is to always be writing two or three things, that way I have places to distribute new ideas without having to include them where they may not fit. For a book you want to have a clear and defined progression, for a series you can have more stand-alone type ideas, and then also have a smattering of short stories and poems to excise one off ideas.
It can be a little bit problematic to be writing more than one thing at once, destracting, but I've found it to be a life saver in the long run. My only other tip is to write faster, leaving less time for divergence. I write 50-65 thousand words per month for example.
Hope this helped!
