There's more to this concept than vanilla

There's at present TBC Classic and Classic Era (Vanilla). These are two distinct clients. You cannot create a character using either. The WOW TBC Gold character you created is stuck in the one you started with.

The initial change from Vanilla to TBC was dealt with in a way to updated the "Classic" client to TBC and added "Classic Era" as an option for download. Every character was copied to "Classic Era" in both versions "current" version of the character as well as the "Classic Era" version were removed. Then, you had to choose which copy to activate which would block you of using the other one (the vast majority of users were able to activate the TBC version).

Imagine Warcraft's name. We've only seen a little of it in either vanilla or TBC. The straight-up wars between alliances and hordes, aside from battlegrounds, there's not too much going on.

What if Blizzard did not release TBC, but instead released an expansion that was based on the foundations built in vanilla? Foundations like neutral pvp zones and battlegrounds, a chat channel with the name "LocalDefense" (I was required to sign in as I was unsure of the way the channel's name was) factions, and other things.

My expansion is a war between the alliance of horde and horde. You fight for control over neutral zones to take over Azeroth. While you are in control of a region, you have access to more missions and flight routes. There are quests available while attacking a particular zone so that your faction can regain control of that area. Instead of having to slay 10 raptors while leveling to the highest level, you can participate in the battle. When you gain charge of a territory, you'll get new quests to make sure you are in control. the zone will change depending on the faction who controls the zone. Horde is controlling it? Alliance has two outposts. It needs to slowly push forwards. PvP in the world with NPCs fighting with each other as well as players. Secure ressource transports to other areas and defend these against the faction of the enemy.

The LocalDefense channel lets players communicate with each other and to announce enemy attacks at outposts/towns. Battleground wins provide ressources for the faction you are fighting to enhance your battle efforts. Every neutral zone gets an entirely new battleground. Alterac valley = winterspring and Warsong = barrens etc. Make sure you make sure to quench any battlegrounds or zones that need your help. All your war efforts allow you to purchase more powerful equipment for any level, get ranks for your faction with access to mounts/tabards as well as many more items. It is possible to use your professions to create items that are needed for war.

There's more to this concept than vanilla and I'm waiting to see a second version.

This design has flaws that I'm aware of. Like the gap in max-level characters as well as the faction imbalance. The thought of buy WOW TBC Classic Gold this helps me appreciate the potential WoW was able to fulfill, even though it was already an amazing game.
