Underground Writers Network Forum Need some advice

So, I'm writing a small book, a romance, where the girl is in the hospital. And I can't decide weather she should die in the end, or live. If she lives it seems to... Lifetime or Hallmarkish, but if she dies, it'll be super sad and the guy will end up being depressed. 

Why not leave the ending ambiguous? Have the character accept her mortality. In the end, we all die, but living with this truth is harder. The true struggle is not to survive, but coming to an understanding of the paradox that much of what we accomplish is lost in time.

make her live in the end, so it gives hope. but first make the guy have a dream where she dies and gets depressed, so you can write that sadness too, but he wakes up and she lives.
