Underground Writers Network Forum Ideas for the start of my own

Hey everyone So I've been churning a book idea in my head for a couple of days but can't put my finger on a gripping start. It's going to be mystery/horror/adventure. I want my protagonist to find something like a journal, old diary which sets him off into the rest of the book. I know, I know. But what would be most appealing if you were the reader, how would you want to find this item, i've thought about him moving into a new house and finding it, or even out hiking and finding an old lodge in the woods, but these seem like worn out ideas, unless i make it work just right. Do you have any ideas or help?

It's hard to answer that kind of question , all people have different opinions . my advise for you is to read for Daniel Defoe , Jules Verne ,mark twain those are good in adventures ,also cast way movie is good ,  because seems to me that your story about adventures .
