Challenge of the Week ~ #20

Well, hello there again! Glad you stopped by ::cool::

After struggling with a bunch of ideas during the weekend, here comes the new challenge. I think it will make for a great writing adventure.

Circular writing is when a writer's introduction and conclusion solidly connect. The end comes back to the beginning somehow. Writers can write in circles by simply repeating the same sentence at the beginning and the end. Or--better yet--they can remind the reader how the starting and stopping point of their writing are connected with one word or phrase that's repeated. Linking an introduction to a conclusion is an effective skill writers might think about when organizing their writing, and it's good to practice once in a while.

What elements can you use to create start and stop poetry? Usually adjectives, verbs, phrases or clauses are used in this kind of exercise. For example, beginning and ending a piece with:

Adjectives poetic, jocular, pallid, ideal, farcical
Verbs comply, increase, devise, create, suggest
Prepositional Phrase through the window, inside the closet, from the darkness
Subordinate Clause before I shut the door, in case I never tell you, while the music played

The object of the Start & Stop Challenge is to include the adjective, verb, phrase or clause of your choice in BOTH your first line and your last line. Can you do it without simply repeating the first sentence at the end?

Enjoy!
