I am Cybil

Recently I resigned from my job and took a part time consulting gig to be able to focus on writing for a little while and give it half a chance.

In doing so, I took mental ownership of several things (including but not limited to commitment, goals, blah blah blah), one of which was a "pen name".

If I am ever lucky enough to be published to any degree, I'd rather not be associated with it in my everyday life -- who I am, my privacy, etc.

I adopted the pen name "RM Becker", formed an LLC by the same name, got a bank account, the whole shootin' match. Mostly to manage income and expenses from the consulting gig -- but also to get used to the "RM Becker" situation and what that obligates me to focus on, now that I have the time.

Etymology: My three dogs --> Rudy, Max, and Beck -- RM Becker

We'll see what happens.

I need a drink.

-Becker (the artist formerly known as Norm who secretly wishes he was cool enough to have a symbol like Prince did)

PS. [email protected] for future reference - I will be checking the address regularly. Web site forthcoming.

RM:

Congrats on the big leap into starving artist! It is a huge step and I'm proud of you. Nice pen name as well. I wish you the best of luck with it.

Can I still call you Norm? Because I have this bad tendency to get a name stuck in my head and then calling them by anything else just seems silly. :) Not that your pen name is silly. I'm just a stick in the mud.

I like it. I tag on Julie's congratulations for entering the realm of starving artists and add my own congratulations on the pen name from the rest of us who suffer from some form of multiple personality disorder.
