Originally posted by Madeline I think this is a very broad subject that should not have been brought up. The Twilight series to me is amazing. I have read Twilight maybe six times....? Pshh on the haters. Sure some fans have went a bit over board with the 'Twilight is my bible' thing. I hate that and think it is way over the top. There were reasons I brought it up, mainly because of the broad fanbase. I'm glad someone came out and said they loved it. Clearly you enjoyed it. You read it six times. So tell us why you liked it. What did you see? What separated Twilight from the other books out there? What made you read it six times? What makes it a broad subject? "Search your feelings" and tell us everything you liked about the book. I don't say this for mean reasons. If it's this popular, there must be something about it that all of the writers can learn from. We have to help each other out. Point out what Meyer did that made Twilight so fascinating in your opinion. "Amazing" is not a reason. It's simply a vague adjective. Let's have some heart! And damn it all, if someone makes fun of you, I'll defend you. No one dares mess with Lady Aerith. Okay
... I don't know. Okay here I got it. First, tons of my
friends read it so that's why I read it in the first place. Yes, peer pressure,
but it was all good. I admire Stephanie Meyer's writing style with a whole
heart. There's just something about her writing and the way she conveys a
message to people that speaks to me. (And that's the best I can describe
that) Twilight is obviously a love story
and I enjoy romance mixed with a little fiction. Before Twilight I had never
taken such a liking to Vampires. Before Twilight I didn't read as much and then
I read that. It opened up such a broad category of reading for me. It was
something I could look forward to, honestly. So, I'd say that I enjoy it very
much for personal reasons that even myself can't figure out. I feel awful saying this, but I
could never get it into the Harry Potter books. I tried, really, but it never
stuck with me. Therefore I didn't see the affect it had on kid's my age. This society of children that we
have today hasn't had something that drastically changed our lives. I don't
believe we've had an instance with someone like The Beatles. Twilight is/was
something that people flocked over. And now I don't read it as much, but I do
refer to it every now and then to see how she worded a certain scene. Her ability to describe one scene
for two pages fascinates me. That is something I'd like to be able to do,
something I wish to accomplish. So I don't exactly know why I
enjoyed the book so much, but here are a few points. And I do apologize for my rude
behavior. Thank you, Madeline:) |
