To which I have awoken Whispers softly upon me The subtle signs of change For the aroma of distant fire Has joined the newly fallen frost To greet me in the dim of dawn Declaring That time has at long last Carried me safe and whole To that final season Wherein I might take my rest And though I know The coming days be short With fleeting strength Of light and warmth Yet, I relish to behold The delicate beauty And symbold purity Of a world adorned in white Which in joy lifts my heart Not only to recall The dear memories Of seasons past But to as well look forward Into the brilliance of white Which lies beyond The driven snow Jeff Bresee |
