The Brown Recluse Forum Homework

This first task is to write a poem through the eyes of someone that you admire but do not know. It's easy and exciting. The only thing is the poem has to include the following words...
1. elapse
2. sporadic
3. asset
4. ascend

Okay, I'd just like to state that I'm not very poetic and I'd be the first person to admit this one might suck XD.





When I met this person, it was in a mental institution (I had an episode... =D). Though only in a very small way, this person has affected and changed a little bit of my life. I did not really know him and only had contact with him through out the duration of 2 days.

Are we not all fighters,


optimistic until we collapse?





Do we not endure the flames


when our emotions take a sporadic beating?





Do we not move on when rejected


by those whose hearts asset shallowness?





Do our wounds not heal


after time elapses?





Do our spirits not ascend beyond


when we can fight no more?





So believe me when I tell you


you are a fighter at heart.

The Brown Recluse-exercise #1

"Facing the Truth"

Gazing through the mirror,

At me, myself and I

Evaluating what I saw

With a reluctant sigh

Ascend… descend…yes… give or take a year

I underestimated

How a wrinkle became so clear

Elapse….relapse…no…I am not so blind

But I searched and searched

For the girl I saw in my mind

Sporadic…erratic….yes….I see bits of her here and there

The finding of such a treasure however

Is overshadowed by that grey hair.

Tossing back my heavy mane

My examination done

I realized that in this light this really was no fun.

As I lit the candles and turned the music loud

I gave a wicked little smirk

For you looked at me so proud.

Gazing at me steadily studying every facet

It dawned on me so suddenly

Your love was my true asset.
