Story Craft Forum The sincerest Form
The sincerest Form17 Years AgoHi there, I read a lot about craft, especially short stories, and one of the best ways of learning how to apply that knowledge is to imitate. Painters and composers learn by reproducing great works, doing so helps internalize craft. Theres a good book by DelBanco that says the same, "The Sincerest Form" - study the greats and have a go at what they did - its a great way of learning the craft. My own story The Kirby Guest House imitates James Joyce, as well as the linked style. Thought I'd pass that tip on craft along. Malenkov |
