Story Craft Forum Just what is this group about?
Just what is this group about?17 Years AgoIs it me, Or is this group based around doc Rogers?
For starters, I notice that he has placed himself as features writer and has featured his writing. Second thing I notice, is that the only work he has approved to be posted is his own. I see no evidence that he really cares about what anyone else else has written, or that their are other members in his group. |

[no subject]17 Years AgoHey Sarah!
I'm glad you posted in here. Thanks and good questions! Q1: Is this group all about Doc Rogers? A: No. This group is about the craft of story making or story craft. As posted in this forum, I have set up examples... using some of my pieces since I am thick skinned about my writing... so that everyone in the group would have a general idea of some of the processes. Reading further in the forum, one would see that each week the group will feature a new writer in the group. This is where group members must be thick skinned and honest. Taking from the information posted and examples given, we should analyze the works featured. This way we all see what it takes and get to see other writers works so we can be exposed to other styles and thought processes in story crafting. I guess this group is really about the work that goes into making a story better, beyond the initial creative spurring that gave it birth. Comment more than question: The evidence that I care about what anyone else has written or that there are other members of the group. Answer: Oh, I care about what others have written. That is part of the fun of WC for me. I get to read what others are doing. I am concerned with the feelings of the writers that may submit a project for review and analysis only to find someone was offended harshly by the review/analysis. In light of that, I have used 3 of my projects as examples and stated oftly that is what they are there for. Sarah, in due course one of your projects will be featured and you will be the featured writer for that week. As you have posted your concern for the direction and process for this writers' group, I also invite you to review the other threads in this forum and provide your valuable feedback. Everyone in WC comes from varied backgrounds and life experiences. It is the learning from those experiences and bringing those to this group that will help each of us to grow as writers. Sarah, I appreciate your honest concern for the group. My ego does not require that I be in charge or in control and it is definitely not about me. But, since I had an idea and started chasing it, I moderate this group. The tools of this website do not offer the facility of appointing more than 1 moderator. So, it's me until I disband it, I guess. There will be a new featured project and writer Saturday night or Sunday morning, depending on what is happening in my life and schedule. I invite anyone who is a member of this group to take a few moments to review the threads in this forum and to give your input to the threads, or start one of your own so that together we can explore the thought processes or ideas that are birthed in that particular thread. Some have already taken this idea and started running with it. Good. Warmest regards, |
