Short Stories Forum Writer or Hobbyist?
Writer or Hobbyist?8 Years AgoHi, I've joined this group because I would like to get more criticism. I also like to help people to get better (and also appreciate themselves) through criticism. I sampled some of the members' writings and found them to my liking (which I will review soon), which was an ample reason for me to join.
I always loved writing storys and the cinematic arts, but recently life has led me to another path. I plan on writing as a hobby, but deep inside I hope it will become more than that one day. I feel that I don't really have as much time as I would like to express myself through writing. I would thank you if you would review my writing (currently one story, will add more in the near future), and I promise to review yours. I would truly like to have honest opinions and constructive criticism, to help me get better. I would like to have your opinion/experience of writing as a profession/hobby, which you can share via this thread. |

Re: Writer or Hobbyist?8 Years AgoWhat's up man, so I am here reading this and began to think, what separates hobby and actual writing? Well its simple, hobbies are just actions one portrays out of joy, you enjoy writing, drawing, playing sports, food, shopping, anything but what makes you a writer is the passion. It goes beyond enjoyment, it falls into satisfaction. See when I write I am satisfying my creativity. I cant stop writing and my mind is always going around creating a new idea. So even if you don't have time you wish to write because not only do you enjoy it but you feel a connection to it. And about your story, I will take a look into it.

Re: Writer or Hobbyist?8 Years AgoTrue enough, I do feel passionate about writing. What I meant is that because of the fact that I do not write as a profession (I currently study, but something completely unrelated to arts,) I feel that I have less time to put into it than I would have liked. Who knows, maybe one day I will become a professional writer. Maybe then I will feel that I give writing its proper attention. Until then, I shall continue writing when I can, of course.
