Sci Fi & Fantasy Writers at the Table Forum Questions

I have some questions about writing male characters (as a female writer). Sometimes I can imagine how a man would react to something based on books, movies, and experience, but at other times I'm at a loss. For instance, in my story, my two main characters are attending a black tie gala. My female character is a tomboy who is naturally pretty but never dresses in feminine clothing. My male character was thrown together with her for a few months and has learned to love her. How does he feel/react/think when she emerges in a ball gown, hair done, makeup on, looking gorgeous?
