Toasting a buddy

So the New Year is only hours old and already the angst is bubbling like so much acid after a Taco Bell enchirito. The TPB's (testosterone producing bipeds) lounge like walruses on various well worn pieces of furniture, belching scrambled egg quesadillas and scratching thier long john clad hind parts as only TPB's can do. I spent two hours politey observing the Tournament of Roses Parade only to find that the much maligned New Mexico Float was not in fact featured....sigh. Perhaps if we had succumbed to our highly vocal minority tauting the importance of 'southwestern culture' (yes us and the whole southwestern tier of the great 48...how exciting can you make ristras and adobe...) instead of something specific to New Mexico - like the ROSWELL incident....we would have garnered that 30 seconds of rose clad fame. Sigh. Now the brethren contained in my stuccoed home grunt approvingly in the general direction of the TV...Michigan must have the ball...

I consider today, like so many of you who are not so toasted from last nights festivities, my goals for the coming 364 days. Beyond the 40 pounds I'd like to shed, and the daily waste of time called blogging I intend to savor, I have determined if only in my dreams to become published this year. The novel - Bethany's Crossing has now been rejected by 9 publishing houses according to my virtual agency - so I have it submitted in Amazon's contest, and have sent it off to a small publisher for debriding - uh - consideration. I shall continue to send it off until SOMEBODY falls in love with my blonde hero and her fashionable sidekick. Yeah. I plan to send some poetry off into the void. And I have already written the first chapter of a yet to be named novel which I will debut on Writers Cafe (and maybe here - too) AND - I plan to complete at least one more novel this year. The thing is - one has to move from the list of resolutions to the hard work of making resolutions part of reality.

I hope you all are well today and that your year is everything you dream it should be
