The lost art/depressing.

I no longer can seem to write stories anymore. Is this just me or someone else facing a similar problem?

I think I need a "coach" more than anything else.

If you have an idea on how to help, don't be afraid of being heard.

Appreciated.

I think you are putting too much pressure on yourself. You're probably not going to agree with that, but from my perspective, and from chatting here and there with you, that is what I think.

And I totally understand that. Everytime I write something, or start something, Im so excited about it....but then I start over-thinking everything and soon, I've crushed my creativity with too much analysis and criticism.

Don't stress...you know you can write, you have the ideas..just let it flow when you're ready and don't try to push yourself.

I have had the same problem.  I couldn't seem to sit down and write a story for weeks, so instead I took a break and just took some time to come up with ideas.  A lot of times I start a story but never finish it because the idea faded....then maybe after a few weeks or so, I come back to it and manage to finish it.

During the time I couldn't write stories, I switched to poetry and it helped get me going again.  Like Chrissy said, don't pressure yourself.  Give it some time, I'm sure you'll be able to write a story soon!!!

I can relate it has been weeks since I wrote something, just can't think of anything. Just take a break it helps and clear your mind.

I pressure myself too much? I will admit I am guilty of "expecting more from myself". That I can agree with.

I think my problem is a little more widespread than just writing fiction. I am not sure if I can write poetry either.

Lets try something different. I am thinking of something to work with.
If anyone is willing to "experiment", then lets try something different.

We provide a basic idea for a story, and then we sort of write our own approach to that idea?
Anyone? Anyone follow? Or am I to take the dive alone?

Are you talking about writing prompts? I've heard that those are great things for a writer in distress. Not only could you do that here - but I have heard (though I haven't explored them myself) that there are websites that you can go to and sign up for daily writers prompts. These supposedly get you out of a slump.

You aren't the only one suffering *sigh* and when I do I turn to poetry, whether the poem turns out good or not, I write them. :-) Hope things get better for you.
