Published! Kinda. And more. I know you're interested, READ. Or ignore. This title's long enough without you.17 Years AgoGood news and bad news from my end this week. Good news is in the thread title -- I'm kinda-sorta published now! The local campus annual e-literature journal picked up my short story "Early Retirement." Stuck a really ironic picture with it, too. It got good reviews from the folks who saw it -- which isn't that many, because this is a pretty small-deal-journal we're talking about. But still. It feels nice to be appreciated, right? Right.
Bad news, if you remember from the last time I posted, is the shoulder. Yep, I'm still whining about it. The docs are finally going to look at it, which usually means they're going to cut something out/off. Really -- after all, this is the military. I get an MRI on tuesday with some kind of injection to make stuff show up better, and then we go from there. I'll find out more soon enough. So on the one hand I'm glad this might finally get resolved (I'm sick of it hurting constantly), but on the downside that may mean slicing. We'll find out soon enough, I guess!
Schoolwork's piling up, so no progress on my evil plotting lately. |

[no subject]17 Years AgoIt's awesome that you're getting published!!!!!! Even small journals are an accomplishment. We all have to start somewhere. I remember years ago when I used to get my stuff published in these "too expensive for anyone to ever buy anyways" poetry books through contests, it totally sucked, but it's a stepping stone.
As for you shoulder, don't worry too much. My husband just had shoulder surgery this year and from the way you're describing your pain, it's probably almost the same thing he had wrong. Just some torn ligaments and such, his surgery took about an hour and it's all gravy. I'm not going to say he didn't whine like a baby afterwards, cause he did, but considering that was the first "major" surgery he ever had, he handled it well and the results are amazing. His shoulder is basically back to the way it used to be. |

[no subject]17 Years AgoCongrats on the publishing! Every little published work means something you can add to a letter of interest when you do go and publish something big (believe me - it helps LOL) Sorry about the shoulder. My brother-in-law had shoulder surgery last winter and was back to work within a week. I hope all goes well. |
