This site is polluted (yes, you read it write, I said polluted) with erotica.  I HATE erotica.  Sure there's some stories out there that are well written, I still hate erotica.  It's porn in words and it's stupid.  Sure you can say that about all genres, but I'm saying about erotica.  I personally don't believe that it belongs anywhere other than sleezy porn mags and porn sites.  I hate that it's been allowed to breed and grow on the Cafe.  I hate seeing so much tasteless crap be blended in with actual writing.  I know someone's going to jump up and down about that, but that's my stand on it; and this is my rant!

I agree David. It's gross. I have no interest in it myself, and you'll notice I never put that crap in my stories!

I have read a few things that were a tiny bit borderline erotic, and they were ok...tastefully done, but nothing like the trashy sex stuff the usual stuff has in it.

If its sex trash, I wont read it. Its such a waste of creativity.

Some erotica on here is actually done in a very taseful way, and I have read some that was more love than erotica. 

 But then there are the ones that are just plain porn.  I have to agree, that has no place calling itself art.  I have been sent some stories that were just plain porn, and disguisting.  I read about 3 lines, saw where it was going and skipped down the page to see if I was right, yep it was porn, so I clicked it off.  If I wanted to read porn I would go the newsagent and buy a mag off the top shelf, not on my computer! 

What annoys me the most is I have my profile set as my homepage, so as soon as I sign onto the internet, it goes straight to the page.  And, there are my read requests, waiting to be read, and my daughters are using my computer!  Lucky for me they haven't yet come across anything they shouldn't be reading, but my 15 year old daughter loves to read and write herself, so she has an interest in this site.  Also, lucky for me, she understands the term privacey, and doesn't read anything on this site without my permission first.  But if my girls weren't so well behaved they would have read some things that I wouldn't want them to be reading at their age!  I mean, we are very open minded in my family, and talk openily about sex, the body and love, but try explaining to a young girl, what one woman finger f*****g another with her fist, and a strap on is about!  Cause that aint love!  It isn't about sex with someone you love, it's plain f*****g (Yes, I mean that literally too!) porn!

Anyway, sorry about my ranting, but I do hate things like that being sent my way.  I completely understand your feelings David, and I agree with every word about the porn.  But I do disagree that ALL erotica falls into this trap, because as I said, there are some tasteful, and beautifulwriters out there who I do not consider porn, and their writing is done in such a way as to make it beautiful, in my view anyway.  XX

You know, I tried my hand at erotica (you can check my two stories out on my list) but they came out as more of love stories haha. The Little Black Dress turned into more of a story about a woman's disappointment and how the black dress gave her confidence. I actually cannot stand that crap like Fantasy said - but I have nothing against sex itself in writing because I think that it can show emotions otherwise ignored. But make it tasteful and between two people who at least respect each other. Oi.

I agree. There is a huge difference. some erotica that I have made it through reading has been downright romantic. Porn is very degrading. I won't allow it in my house either. I think porn is what gives some men such low opinions of women.

And don't forget, it degrading towards men too, and why so many women dislike men.  It goes both ways with porn.

I write erotica, but I too agree that it is more about the leading up to more than the actual act. But yeah there are some pieces I read the first two lines and just clic off.
