New Literary Magazine For Aspiring Authors

Babel’s Gate is a new bi-monthly anthology and literary magazine, primarily intended to give new and first time writers the opportunity to get published.  Each issue includes a selection of poems and short stories, many written by authors talented yet inexperienced in the world of publishing.  The magazine is currently only available online, via the Caprica Book Store hosted by Lulu.com, although with the in January the publishers plan to go public by introducing circulation in retail stores.

Submission to Babels Gate is open to any writer, regardless of their level of experience, skill or ambition.  Contributors can be professionally published authors or high school students wanting to publish their last English Literature assignment.  It is up to them whether they want to make a one-off submission or become a regular contributor.  Work for publication will be accepted in a variety of media, including email, disk or post.  However, people should bear in mind that printed hard copy will take longer to publish, as it will need to be typed up before it can be included.

Aquarius Publications, the publishers behind Babels Gate, respect the copyright of all their submitting authors.  Royalties of 10p per story, or other similar piece of non-fiction writing, will be paid for every copy of the magazine sold.  Poems will receive a royalty of 5p.  These will be calculated at the end of each month and will be paid at the beginning of the following month.  This will ideally be via Paypal, although other methods of payment will be accepted.

As well as original stories, poems and other pieces of writing, Babels Gate will also provide resources, materials and information to support authors with their writing.  Issue one included some basic trivia about Halloween intended to provide ideas for supernatural based writing, while issue two will feature an article on the Public Domain and what it means to those in the writing and publishing industries.  Each issue will also include material of interest to readers as well as writers.  The paperback and hardback UK book charts and US book charts from the week of publication will be included in every issue.  We are also looking to include reviews of best-selling novels, both contemporary and classic.

The first two issues of Babels Gate are only available on-line, and can be accessed via The Caprica Book Store at -- --.  Issue one can be accessed directly by visiting -- --.
