I Love Haikus! Forum What if I don't know how to wr..

For those of you interested in the group but are shy about joining because you do not know how to write a haiku, this a perfect place to learn how. A haiku is 3 lines of 17 syllables, broken up.

Example: The clouds opened up (5 syllables)
Drops of rain fell from the sky (7 syllables)
Refreshing my soul (5 syllables)

Haikus are mainly about nature or things that could relate to nature. In this group we will break some rules and use to the haiku form to write about anything. Try writing one on your own. The more you write them, the easier it becomes, even fun.

I�ve had a couple of goes at writing haikus following the guidelines that have been stated above but I�m not sure if there any good or not. Perhaps if anyone had got a bit of free time then they might take a look and let me know if I�ve got this right or not. Thanks for your time.

No, you are not stupid. Do not pay any heed to the last post. It took me a while to get good at writing haikus, and even still I know my haikus could be better, more traditional. As with writing anything new, it takes time to learn it and become comfortable writing in that style. Feel free to ask for direct help or simply send me a few of your haikus written already via PM, and I will honestly let you know if you are getting the gist of a haiku or not. Welcome to the group. NEVER feel stupid for not knowing something. Stupidity only comes to play when you do NOT wish to learn what you don't know.
