believe in ghost?
[no subject]18 Years Agoi'm a believer in ghosts myself. when i first moved into my current house, which is over 150 years old, a lot of weird things happened for no explicable reason. one event i remember was my VCR late at night would turn on, off, play the tape in it, rewind, fast forward, eject. it wasn't that the VCR was malfunctioning or anything cause my friend has now had it for something like 4 years and it's never done it at his house and my new one never did anything like it either. although i've never seen a ghost i've felt them and interacted with them on several occasions.
this makes me remember an interesting theory i head on what a haunting is on the discovery channel or a similar channel. the person compared it to magnetic storage, such as a cassette tape or video tape, in that when you die if you die feeling a strong emotion your bio-eletric field around your body burns a "recording" of your emotion into the surroundings, such as walls or a bed, and that's why many typical hauntings involve the "ghost" doing the same thing at a specific time or when a specific thing is done. the requirement for the haunting to happen is like the play button and the haunting is like the tape in the VCR. |

[no subject]18 Years AgoI've seen and dealt with far too many to not believe. Everything from the little girl who haunts our house (both sides of the duplex, which appears on the town map as early as 1874) to the thing I exorcised from my sister.

[no subject]18 Years AgoI see muppets... everywhere! ::tongue::
Sorry, couldn't help myself. LOL Seriously, there are muppets all over this place. ::biggrin:: Nomad, man, that song is called Right Where It Belongs, and as one who is a HUGE NIN fan, to the point of seeing 3 shows on the last tour in 3 states, I absolutely LOVE that song! Only a true NIN fan would love that song. Kudos man! ::biggrin:: I honestly don't think there's one song of his that I don't like. And to agree with you, lyrics are poetry! Ok, ghosts... sorry, Nomad mentions NIN and I go all giddy... Yes, I've seen them, ghosts, shadows, felt them, heard them... and no, I was not stoned or drunk at the time. My first was when I was 11 and my grandpa, who died when I was 6, decided to pay me a visit. I slept with my door shut for years after that! Now I just know when they're around. They don't show themselves too much, aside from my peripheral vision, which drives me insane, but I have a dog and a cat, so I generally don't have to depend strictly on my senses. Demons? Yeah, I believe in them. My brother's practically married to one! No, seriously. Angels? Them, too. Can't have one without the other, right? No good without evil, evil without good. There's a truth! Impossibility cannot exist. There are too many facets in the ever-growing universe. But yeah... ghosts? See them, hear them, feel their presence every single damn day! And how appropriate is it that my name is Jinx and I was born on a Friday the 13th? Bua ha ha ha ha ::biggrin:: |

[no subject]17 Years AgoIf Perception is Everything; and Everything is Real.. How can you not Believe?
I grew up on old cemetary ground that the church once sold out but forgot to move all graves (!?!) My grandfather built the house and when tearing down the foundation to rebuild it, lots of bones were found. The house was next to the now known cemetary and church area and has always been high in energy with many visitors. However, it has never been weird or scary; I kind of appreciate my company. After moving away from home and all places I have lived at - I have yet to live in a non-haunted house [smiles] I don't put much "WHOA holy crap!!" weight in to it; since it is counted as 'normal' for me. Many many counted experiences and many, too, witnesses by skeptic people and 'non-believers'. I separate the concept 'ghosts' from 'spirits/angels' because it seems to me ghosts are reliving a moment in time - in a time loop - which most times is the case when you see somebody walk in a house or stand by a place. Their bodies are denser in vibrational frequencies than spirits; and if you have ever tried to touch a 'ghost', you will notice that you can't walk through them. [smiles] Spirits to me don't time loop - they are outside of time measure; they are lighter; both in color and frequency. And they have a form of conscious that 'ghosts' lack. Life is. Skye |

[no subject]17 Years AgoMaybe it's my science background, but IMHO (and most of the scientific community) ghosts are nothing more than over-active imaginations interpreting completely natural phenomenon. Perhaps why we see SO many supporters of the supernatural on a artistically inclined site simply follows from such logic.
The main key that prevents "proof" is that it is a perception phenomenon. What looks like a human shadow to your eyes is due to the brain's interpretation of the shadow from a tree. Evolutionarily speaking it was much more advantageous to have a false alarm of a threat than to miss a real threat. The human brain intrinsically anthropomorphizes what it perceives. From motion, shadows, to noises, the brain fills in A LOT of detail. Spooks and specters are from the same realm as fairy tales... The wonderful and diverse world of imagination, and nothing more. |

[no subject]17 Years AgoI also, separate ghosts from spirits. Spirits have the freedom to move back and forth from our realm to the other side. Ghosts are stuck. Not neccesarily to the place where they lived or died, but stuck in our world all the same.

Good thing we are all telling our opinions about this. But what happens after that? I did too come from a Science background; and people change. [smiles] I think the opportunities to have conventional Science embrace it is getting less and less likely due to peoples need of having distinct splits between things and events. We have to categorize. We have to fold. It has to be defined and bound with something else. And the Earth was once flat. Science is just as limited as any other idea and belief can be. Skye |
