My name is Daniel, and I am a high fantasy fanatic. I love all things epic, heroic, or swords-and-sorcery. I play games like Magic, D&D, the Elder Scrolls series, you name it. Some of my favorite authors are Raymond E. Feist, Jim Butcher, and David Eddings.

Want to trade critiques? I'm all about it; check out my book-in-the-making, "The Tyrilian."

Hello, My name is Y.M.

I'm in the final stage of writing a novel that will be edited and published as an eBook sometime in the next few weeks.

Its called "Prince of The Ziggurat," and a preview from the first draft is available on my cafe-page. Check it out when you get the chance and let me know what you think.

Take care and happy writing,

Sincerely, Y.M.

Dear Forum,

Hello! Nice to meet you!

My name is JazzSoulKeke or just Keke. I enjoy all realms of fantasy from epic to urban (though must say urban is getting pretty mundane). My favorite from epic would have to be the author Terry Goodkind's Wizard's First Rule (I couldn't put it down for three days straight haha) and my favorite from urban is the Sarah Rees Brennan's novel The Demon's Lexicon (that book has one good plot). My favorite types of characters out of fantasy include elves and angels. Oh and I like dragons because I play Dragons of Atlantis whenever I have time.

I think that's it...oh! I have posted my novel, Song of the Keeper's Sword on here. It's an experimental craft shifting between epic and urban fantasy. Check it out for me please :)

Sincerely JazzSoulKeke,

God bless

Hello,

I'm Dreamer, I like Swords + Sorcery type fantasy the most, though i tend to like SciFi as well.
My favorite authors include Terry Pratchette, Robert Asprin, I like the Dragon Riders of Pern series by Ann McCaffrey (Think that's how you spell her name)
I'm a sucker for plenty of magic and mayhem, and always a happy ending :)
I'm currently working on two books, one is a fanfic of Zelda Ocarina of Time, it's called Descendants 2nd Generation.
The other is a swords + sorcery type fantasy called The Caster.

I'd really appreciate feedback on these two if anybody has the time to read them :)
thank you!

Hey guys!
My name is Jane and I'm still pretty new to fantasy writing. Like, I'm an avid reader, but I never realised how difficult it can be to establish tone and setting. That's probably why I have such a deep respect for high fantasy stories! My favourite form of fantasy writing has always concerned low fantasy and the elements of realism found within this specific sub-genre. However, totally did not realise (thank you for the link!) that fairy tales were a form of fantasy. I know, duh Jane, obviously. It just never clicked! So, fairy tales would be up there too.
Nice to meet you all!
Jane.

That's awesome. Honestly, I didn't know there were so many sub-genres either until I found that link! It seems that the "coming-of-age" style is the most popular, which makes sense because it's really engaging.

Since some of you guys like sword + sorcery fantsy the most, you might like my book. I'm testing the waters, hoping to get feedback and help going in the right direction. It would be fantastic if you would read it and tell me what you think. It defintely has swordsmanship and sorcery in it.     As for introducing myself, I'm a fifteen year old girl in an Early College program with great ambition towards my life. I take pride in my grammar (although, like everyone else, I have the occassionaly misspell or typo) and I take pride in my intelligence. I strive to be the best, although I will never truly be able to be "better" then everyone. There will always be someone else above me, just as there will always be someone below me, just like everyone else. Even though I do like to think of myself as different and unique, I am just like everyone else. I feel special, but I still conform to society. I avoid conflict and confrontation as much as possible, as I'm not comfortable speaking my mind aloud. Instead, I speak my mind through writing which is the best way I can do it. I have a lot to say and hopefully I will be able to get messages across all over the world before my time is over on this Earth. Thanks for reading. :)

Hello there,

My names Souleymane Keita i just recently graduated high school. I'm new to writing don't know much about it yet and i'm bad with grammar. I only got one chapter up of my story which was posted a couple of days ago under the book titled Enipsis. I also draw and want to become an illustrator and i know how important story telling is in creating comics and so i'm delving into this new...frontier as i may call it. I am also planning to turn this into a comic of some sort and got some character sketches down. Hope you guys enjoy my story and please, give me critiques!!

Hey...

My "name" is under my avatar, and I'm too paranoid to say my real name, so ... yeah.
I didn't know there were so many different sub-genres of fantasy until today, so i don't really know if I can categorize the fantasy I read into specific sub-genres.  I guess I like anything with a good plot, characters, and hopefully decent writing...two of my favorite books are Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking-glass, so I guess my favorite genre of fantasy is New Weird?  (Even though these are classics, so how new of a weird is that?).

As for my writing, I've only written fantasy so far (and one borderline realistic fiction that has yet to be completed)...but I can't open the one high fantasy I've typed (weird formatting?  I don't know) and the book I'm working on is low fantasy?  I don't really know.  I've written two New Weird (apparently), but they aren't typed...so that's irrelevant.

Anyway, I'm glad to join the group.  : )

Lol! How new CAN that weird be? I feel you. That sub-genre site is nuts, no? I'm still trying to sort it all out, myself.

Anyway, glad to have you!

Hello there! I'm Eva...

I'm working on (and have been since NaNoWriMo 2011) the first in a series of four novels. Much like many other High Fantasy novels, it is a coming of age story with sword fights, and mages and murders OH MY!

I'll probably post a chapter or two on here eventually (if I remember) so let me know what you think!

I'm currently in India (and will be until the end of August) so look forward to completely random post timestamps.

Hi, it is not a right moment to introduce myself, because I am the second member in this group after Arutha. Did not have time to write because of my Full-time job, and I am only 16.
All my life I wanted to be a movie director. When I was 6 years old I got my first idea and was trying to make it real, but, unfortunately, being a director is 1:10000000 chance so I basically gave up :(
After a while I started playing the piano and actually got professional in it, no kidding. For reals, and I compose my own music. My new idea is to make an interactive novel, never heard of that? Listen to me, you read and the music is playing at the same time that is timely connected to the thing that you read, so you get double from what you read. It created an atmosphere of events that are happening. That is the idea for my novel - Immortal.
What about myself, I live in Canada, came from VERY VERY far east of Russia and let's say it was very cold out there. My mother has a PhD in English, so you see how good I am in it, but still, I do have some mistakes :(
I came to Canada 1 year ago. yeah...

Currently I have 3 new ideas for novels or for scripts. But I will finish my novel first.
Any questions? Ask...

I am TryingToSee, or if you want, you can call me Em. I am from Canada. I am new to the whole writing everything down, so I have major problems with spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. If you see something that needs to be fixed just let me know. I am working on two books right now. The first is Team Name: Obsidian. It is a Superhero Fantasy. The second (that I have not posted yet) is called The Barer of the Name Mooncloud. I am not really sure what to call this. I think it is High Fantasy but it also has a little bit of Fantastic Romance and Magic Realism. It has Pirates (good guys) and Vikings (bad guys), Nobles vs Mages, a curse, and a sea made of poison mist. Some of my favorite reads would be: The Riftwar saga by Raymond E. Feist, The Dragon Riders of Pern (that I see someone else also mentioned), the Trillium series (Black, Blood, and Golden), the Hunger games, Graceling by Kristin Cashore, Tamora Pierce's many series, Once Upon a Time by various authors, and my all time favorite The Obernewtyn Chronicles by Isobelle Carmody. Please be patient with me.

I'm Batman Caelo. I've been writing various short stories for a while now, but never got down and wrote a full-length book, so I'm glad I've got this site and the people on me to steer me right when I get a little off-track.

I've always had the more creative look at things. I'd look at the clouds and see dragons dancing, where people saw butterflies. I'd read a book and analyze it like it was somebody's life, where everybody else was looking for a lesson in the words. About a year ago, I decided to turn my perspective of things to my own sort of work, and I got writing.

Right now, I'm working on what I think is either Epic or High Fantasy, both of which I've always liked. The real world was always boring to me, and they were my escape. I've always been a fan of them since I read them, and it was solidified as soon as I started writing them.

Anyways, it's good to be part of the group.

Woooooooooooooooh! You're the first person ever, in the history of anything, that I've ever seen actually reference Feist as a favorite... and at the top of your list too! Holy friggin' Toledo, I'm like hyperventilating ;P

Seriously though; I've been reading Feist for like 12'ish years and you're the first ever. You've made my year. Which saga is your favorite?

(I got this!) My name is Christoph and I'm from backwoods Alabama. It's really boring here, but the scenery is always gorgeous! I can't complain because its probably this environment that's brought me up to love fantasy. I've recently learned that while I love all fantasy I tend to follow contemporary fantasy. I was taught to avoid cliches and be original, though it's tough in the market of entertainment to be 100 percent original. I like to see something new, something original, something fresh and exciting! I've been writing for about 13 years now, maybe longer, but definitely not shorter. I guess I was in the middle of middle school when I really got involved, and it was clearly out of boredom. As a matter of fact, I once hated writing, English, and reading all together. I guess the planets just aligned one day, and a spark of creativity opened my eyes. The first story i had written that pulled me into the writing world was about a young girl named Ayva. After her brothers birth, her parents were brutally murdered and Ayva was forced to leave with the infant and raise him on her own. Since then, the story has evolved into 'Ecclesia', which will be my last attempt at the novel. (And I suppose I'll be forced into the 'real world' with boring life changing decisions to follow...) Be sure to check it out if time is willing. My other passion lies with cars. This isn't really the place to be talking about them, of course, so for anyone who knows me here doesn't know that I'm a car junkie. I've always said that if I was rich my garage would be bigger than my house. Haha. I was lucky enough to have great parents who bought me a 2002 Camaro when I turned sixteen. It's by far my favorite car, still is, and I'm still driving the hell out of it! :) I play the piano. Music of course inspires my writing, and sometimes writing inspires my music. And I paint, which is probably my oldest trade because I've been drawing since I was a child. (Which reminds me that I'll have to post some of my paintings here on writerscafe...) Anything else, just ask! Nice to meet everyone. You all seem like an interesting bunch, and I'm eager to getting to know you better. Take care, --Christoph Poe

Hi all.  My name is Lubaina and I hail from South Africa.  I am an Agricultural Biologist/Cryobiologist by profession but am a writer at heart.  High Fantasy is my favourite genre but I am not averse to reading outside the genre.  Surprisingly, my favourite books of all time are not fantasy but are still described as epic.  These are "Pillars of the Earth" and "World without End", both of which are by Ken Follet, although I do not particularly care for any of his earlier workss.

Anyway, I am really happy to be part of this group and I hope that we can forge some long-standing working, and friendly, relationships during the course of our writing :)
