Du Vrangr Gata (The Wandering Path) Forum Who's read Lord of the Rings?

I adore the movies and was thinking of tackling the first book this August. Are they extremely difficult to read, or just long?

They're long, but not extremely difficult. They read pretty easily, but don't expect much action for about the first 90 pages of the Fellowship of the Ring. J.R.R. really enjoys writing about the hobbit's gardens and about their families and things.
